Meet Dr. Roman Esquivel
Dr. Roman Esquivel is a board-certified family medicine physician with more than 20 years of experience caring for patients across Texas. Trained in El Salvador and having completed his residency in McAllen, Dr. Esquivel brings extensive clinical experience together with a strong connection to the Rio Grande Valley and the communities he serves.
His career has included years of work in emergency rooms and urgent care settings, caring for patients in both urban and rural communities. He has also participated in hands-on clinical research at Stanford University. These experiences have given Dr. Esquivel a broad perspective on healthcare — from addressing immediate medical needs to recognizing the importance of prevention, follow-up, and long-term management of chronic health conditions.
At Esquivel Family Clinic, Dr. Esquivel brings that experience into a more personal primary care setting. He believes good healthcare begins with listening, understanding the whole person, and helping patients feel informed and comfortable with the decisions being made about their health. Whether a patient is coming in for preventive care, managing an ongoing condition, following up after an emergency room or hospital visit, or simply looking for a physician they can rely on over time, his goal is to provide thoughtful, accessible care centered around the individual.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Esquivel is proud to care for adolescents and adults throughout Edinburg and the Rio Grande Valley. He values the opportunity to build lasting physician-patient relationships and to help patients take an active role in their health at every stage of life.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Esquivel enjoys reading, hiking, and spending quality time with his family.
